pop-up bar as mutual aid experiment
THE MEADOW AT DUSK
THE MEADOW AT DUSK
TMAD is a recurring late-night cocktail event launched in 2023. No promotion, no reservations — just a rotating lineup of technique-forward drinks, often built on donated product and always served with intention.
Proceeds go directly to individuals and grassroots organizations — no overhead, no payout structure, no branding partnerships. Past recipients include:
– LiBRE (Long Beach Residents Empowered), supporting tenants facing eviction
– a local artist recovering from a serious motorcycle accident
– the family of a bartender lost too soon
– Southern Smoke Foundation, via a zero-proof fundraiser with Got Your Back LB, providing cash relief and mental health care to hospitality workers
The name comes from a monologue in I ♥︎ Huckabees, a rant about what gets paved over when profit leads. TMAD is a response to that — a community project celebrating what makes us human.
